Adam Cole Was Proud NXT Got Showcased At WrestleMania 36
Since moving to USA Network in September 2019, NXT has become less of a developmental system for WWE and more of a third brand. The gold brand was showcased at Survivor Series and Royal Rumble, culminating with an NXT Women’s Title match at WrestleMania 36 between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair.
Speaking to Gamespot, Adam Cole said he was proud that NXT is starting to take more of the spotlight.
“It made me feel great because I think one of the coolest parts about being in NXT, is getting to see the growth and the development of the brand, whether it be us going live every single week on USA, or getting to be a huge part of the Survivor Series,” Cole said. “But getting to see Rhea, and the NXT [Women’s] Championship being defended there was so, so cool. It’s just proof of how far, how much the brand has moved up and grown. And it makes me think, ‘Okay, maybe the next Wrestlemania, my NXT championship will be on the line.’ Made me feel very proud that NXT got showcased in that way on the biggest show of all time.”
Charlotte defeated Ripley in NXT Women’s Title match to become a two-time champion. As for Cole, the reigning NXT Champion is currently feuding with Velveteen Dream.
Fightful will have live coverage of NXT beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
