Adam Cole Shares That He Received A Congratulatory Text From Kevin Owens After NXT Title Win

June 1st was a great day for Adam Cole.

The current NXT Champion Adam Cole first held the NXT Championship when he debuted at TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2017 and ambushed Drew McIntyre and held the NXT Title above his head. After two years in NXT, Adam Cole captured the brand’s top prize on the men’s division side of the roster when he defeated Johnny Gargano at TakeOver XXV. Cole and Gargano went at it for over twenty minutes and in the end “The Panama City Playboy” celebrated his victory with Undisputed ERA members Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish along with Cole’s girlfriend and AEW star Britt Baker who was in the front row.

Cole also had a text waiting for him from Kevin Owens. Owens and Cole are close friends and Cole stated that Kevin has been one of his biggest supporters. Cole added that Kevin was in New Orleans he won the North American Title and is one of those guys that has always been in his corner.

“Kevin was there front row when I made my debut in Brooklyn.” Cole told Sporting News. “Kevin has also been there to congratulate me when I won the NXT North American Championship for the first time. He’s been one of those guys who has always been in my corner and always been supportive. He sent me a very nice text message after I won the NXT Championship, talking about how he wished he could have been there and how proud he was of me.” Cole shared. “That’s stuff that you never forget. He’s been a supporter of mine even before I made it to NXT. It’s been cool. He’s been incredibly supportive.”
