Adam Cole NXT Championship Celebration Announced

Adam Cole’s historic reign as NXT Champion reached another milestone: one full year as champion.

WWE announced that there will be a celebration for Cole’s 365-day reign as champion on May 31 at 2 p.m. ET on WWE’s official Twitter account.

Cole, already the longest-reigning NXT Champion of all time, became the first person to hold the title for an entire calendar year. Cole, in his first title reign, won the title back on June 1, 2019 when he defeated Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: XXV. Earlier this year, Cole surpassed Finn Balor as the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history.

Cole may have eclipsed one year as champion, but now will have to turn his attention to the Velveteen Dream. Cole is scheduled to defend his title against Dream at NXT TakeOver: In Your House on June 7. The match came together after Cole and NXT General Manager William Regal held a negotiation session on the May 27 episode of NXT.

A couple of stipulations were added for the title match. The first is that the match will take place at a location of Regal’s choosing and other is that if Dream loses the match, then he can no longer challenge for the title so long as Cole is champion.

Fightful will have live coverage of NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
