Here is your post-AEW Dynamite fight size update for Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

– Ricky Starks scored a major win when he took on Chris Jericho, despite some interference from the Jericho Appreciation Society. The JAS attacked Starks after the bell and overwhelmed Action Andretti when he tried to make the save.

– The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) retained the AEW World Tag Team Championship when they battled Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. The challengers nearly stole the win, but Aubrey Edwards reversed the decision due to the interference of Sonjay Dutt. The two teams will clash again on AEW Battle of the Belts V.

Darby Allin defeated Samoa Joe to win the TNT Championship in front of his hometown crowd.

– “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry challenged Lee Moriarty and Big Bill to face him and HOOK next week.

Hangman Page offered a medical update and vowed to knock Jon Moxley’s dick in the dirt, as he accepted Mox’s challenge to face him next week. Moxley said he’s tired of all of the sympathy for Page, and he’s going to make sure he doesn’t get up this time.

– Bryan Danielson defeated Tony Nese, much to the delight of the Seattle crowd.

– Danielson then got into a heated exchange with MJF. They insulted each other’s mother, and MJF name-dropped Disco Inferno, Eric Bischoff, and Jim Cornette. He told Danielson he could earn a title shot at AEW Revolution by winning every week on AEW Dynamite until February 8. Danielson named the stipulation of the title bout as a 60-Minute Iron Man Match.

–  The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) held a mock funeral for FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) and stated that the former champions would never work in AEW again.

AEW debuted a new set and unveiled other production changes with the first Dynamite of the new year.

– Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter discussed their upcoming match against Saraya and a mystery partner. They emphasized that they are AEW Originals. Baker referred to herself as “The Boss”.

Saraya chose Toni Storm as her partner, and the choice clearly left Hikaru Shida feeling frustrated.

– A video package highlighted the AEW All-Atlantic Championship match on AEW Battle of the Belts V, where Orange Cassidy will defend the title against Kip Sabian.

– Swerve Strickland renewed his rivalry with AR Fox and, thanks to some interference from his Mogul Affiliates stablemates, he won the match with the Swerve Stomp.

– Red Velvet walked out on TBS Champion Jade Cargill, but the powerhouse still defeated Kiera Hogan and Skye Blue by herself.
