WWE NXT Results (12/21/21): AJ Styles Calls Out Grayson Waller, Raquel Gonzalez vs. Dakota Kai and Pete Dunne Takes On Tony DeAngelo

— NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa is in the ring as the show comes on the air. Ciampa says that he has something that he needs to get off of his chest. He says he knows that everyone is aiming for him since he has the NXT Championship and says he knows Bron Breakker wants another shot at him and then invites him to the ring because he has something that he needs to tell him face-to-face. Breakker obliges and makes his way down to the ring. Breakker reaches for a microphone but Ciampa steps-in and says there’s no need for him to even say anything because he already knows what he’s about to say. Ciampa says he knows Bron’s going to say that he deserves another opportunity to win the NXT title because he won WarGames. Ciampa says he agrees that Bron deserves another shot but he tells him to make sure he doesn’t drown this time and in two weeks time at New Year’s Evil, he’ll get his chance to win Goldie. Ciampa says at Halloween Havoc, not only did he expose Bron’s inexperience in the ring but his inexperience in life and he’s not ready to be a champion in HIS [Ciampa’s] NXT. Ciampa says Bron has nothing on guys like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and himself because they’ve each spent 10 to 20 years perfecting their craft while Bron’s had maybe 10 or 20 matches in his career. Tommaso says Bron’s off to great start but he doesn’t have what it takes to yet compete with him and with just one mistake at New Year’s Evil will again be his downfall. Ciampa says if Bron wins, he’s going to take the title home and put it on the mantle while he hand his family starts barking and cheering but then reality is going to set in and Ciampa slaps Bron in the face, Breakker grabs Ciampa and tosses him across the ring, grabs the NXT Championship and says at New Year’s Evil, blood is in the water and this shark is going to eat him alive before tossing the title to Ciampa and leaving the ring.
— We then see Grayson Waller’s viral Instagram video from earlier in the week where he called out AJ Styles, saying Styles’ has a decent amount of money so there’s no excuse to have a ‘mom haircut’ and we see a graphic and Vic Joseph on commentary confirms that AJ Styles is on his way to the CWC and will confront Waller later on tonight.
— Cameras cut backstage to see Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai brawling before their street fight, later on tonight. Kai hits Gonzalez in the mid-section with light tubes then tosses her into scaffolding before Gonzalez reverses momentum by tossing Kai into some equipment and asks Kai why she’s running away. Gonzalez lays Kai out with a trash can, sets her up against an equipment box and slides another box into her but Kai escapes danger and blasts Gonzalez with a trash can. NXT officials step-in and tell Kai to stop the attack and to get into the arena so they can start the match but Gonzalez uses the distraction to knock Kai to the side, puts her on a wheelie and throws her into a metal door. Kai kicks Gonzalez off and scurries off to the parking lot where Gonzalez chases her alongside the aforementioned officials and we head to a break.
Street Fight: Raquel Gonzalez vs. Dakota Kai
— Back from the break and both women are in the arena and this street fight is officially underway. Kai dumps Gonzalez on the outside with a trash can, Gonzalez tosses Kai into the barricade and then the steel steps, Kai trips her up and retrieves a table and throws it in the ring. Gonzalez knocks Kai down with a chair, Kai trips her up again and hits her with a trash can before tossing her out of the ring, puts Gonzalez’s head in the trash can, jumps up on the ring apron and goes for a cross body but Gonzalez rolls out of the way and drills Kai with a massive power-bomb on the steps. Gonzalez throws her back in the ring, Kai hits her with a boot to the face, tries to throw the trash can at her but Gonzalez nails her with a big boot and a power-bomb onto the trash can to get the 1-2-3.
Result: Raquel Gonzalez def. Dakota Kai via pinfall
— After the match, Gonzalez gets on the mic and says she’s sick and tired of waiting and calls out NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose to come down to the ring and give her, her rematch for the title and then we cut to a break. Back from the break and Cora Jade makes her way to the ring. Jade congratulates Gonzalez on her win and says she knows that Raquel wants her rematch and as much as she wants that rematch, she wants payback on Mandy Rose and Toxic Attraction and the only way to get rid of them, they have to cut the head off the snake, which is to take that title off of Mandy Rose. Raquel says that Cora is her girl and she has courage for wanting Toxic Attraction all to her self but it doesn’t matter if it’s friend or foe, she’ll go through anyone to get to Mandy, Cora says not if she gets there first. Mandy Rose appears on the big screen and says that in two weeks at New Year’s Evil, it’ll be a triple-threa match for the NXT Women’s Championship between Raquel, Cora and herself and then she can kill off two birds with one stone. Toxic Attraction sneak attacks Gonzalez and Jade and celebrate in the ring.
— We then see Joe Gacy in a dark room being flanked by Harland. Gacy says Harland would like to apologize for his actions on Brian Kendrick last week but he’s been through so much that he’s not used to someone that loves him as much as he [Gacy] does. Gacy says he and Harland don’t condone violence but Kendrick’s behavior warranted it and nobody is to blame but himself [Kendrick] and he hopes that everybody can grow from this ‘unfortunate’ experience.
— Commentary announces that the Grizzled Young Vets will take on the Creed Brothers after the break.
Grizzled Young Vets (Zack Gibson & James Drake) vs. Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius)
— Julius and Gibson start this one off, the pair lock in with a test of strength and exchange some grappling, Julius makes rhe tag to Brutus who tosses Gibson around with some more grappling exchanges, tosses him into the corner and makes another quick tag. Julius tosses Gibson to the corner, Drake cuts him off, runs back to his corner, makes the tag made, plants Julius with a double axe-handle slam, goes for the cover but Julius kicks out at two. Julius tags in Brutus, who plans Drake with a punch, Drake knocks him back with a kick, Brutus makes the blind tag, Julius with a waist-lock takedown on Drake and drills him with a knee to the ribs. Jacket Time then makes their way to the commentary area and bring a little table to setup their own commentary booth as we head to a break.
Back from the break and Jacket Time are at their own commentary booth as both Gibson and Drake work Brutus over. Briggs & Jensen then make their way to the ring. In the ring, Drake has momentum but it’s quickly halted by Brutus, who plants Drake with a power-slam, goes for the cover but Drake gets his shoulder up at two-and-a-half. All four men roll to the outside of the ring, Zack tries to get Julius down with a power-bomb, Julius reverses and bumps into Jacket Time’s makeshift commentary table and now all four teams begin brawling which ends this match in a no-contest.
Result: No Contest
— We then see NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes backstage who says Trick Williams isn’t afraid of Dexter Lumis and he’s no punk so Lumis is goint to end up in a trunk. Luis appears on the monitor behind Hayes and Williams, both men walk off and that match us coming up after the break.
Dexter Lumis vs. Trick Williams (with Carmelo Hayes)
— Lumis immediately scares Williams, who falls back. After some encouragement, Williams gets in Lumis’ face but Lumis tosses him aside. Williams runs around the ring, Lumis catches him, tosses him back in the ring and locks in a a neck crank. Williams eventually escapes, bounces off the ropes, jumps over Lumis then lays him out with a drop-kick. Williams tosses Lumis over the ropes, goes for a dive, Lumis slides out of the ring and catches him in the apron. Roderick Strong comes out and attacks Hayes and the pair brawl to the back. Williams lays out Lumis and tosses him back in the ring, hits a clothesline, goes for the cover but Lumis quickly kicks out. Williams keeps up the offense with a slam, locks-in a neck crank, Lumis powers out but Williams plants him with another slam and locks right back in on the neck. Lumis powers to his feet, tosses Williams aside, lays him out with a clothesline, a superman punch, tosses him to the corner and hits another clothesline. Lumis tosses Williams down, hits a running leg drop, tosses him back into the corner and punches Williams in the throat, tosses him to the mat, and locks-in the ‘Silence’ and Williams has no choice but to go to sleep.
Result: Dexter Lumis def. Trick Williams by submission

— After the match, Grayson Waller attacks Lumis with a steel chair and AJ Styles appears on the big-screen arriving to the arena, Waller opens the chair and takes a seat in middle of the ring waving Styles on as we head to a break.
— Back from the break and we see a Pete Dunne vignette and Dunne says he still has many things left to accomplish in NXT and while these new 2.0 guys are young and hungry, he’s just as young and even more hungry.
— We then cut back to the ring where Grayson Waller says when people are inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, they always thank the fans but when he’s inducted, he’ll tell everyone ‘told ya so’ and thank himself. AJ Styles’ music cuts off Waller, who comes out to a massive pop, the ‘Phenomenal One’ comes down to the ring as the CWC chants his name. Waller credits himself for bringing Styles to NXT then AJ cuts him off and tells him to shut up as the crowd begins chanting ‘shut the hell up’ at Waller. Styles calls Waller the biggest a-hole around and Waller brags on getting Styles’ attention with his Instagram video. Waller asks Styles why he’s here and ponders that Styles isn’t there to be the veteran that helps the new guys but because his ‘meal ticket’ Omos attacked him last night on RAW and he needs someone else to keep him relevant, Waller then declines the ‘offer’ and says he’s more of a singles wrestler. Styles says Waller called him out to get the ‘AJ Styles rub’ and says that between the callout and Waller’s single elbow pad signifies that he’s trying to copy him. Styles admits that Waller has potential and while he’s cocky, he appreciates that, but says he’s not a future superstar. Styles says he can see superstar written all over the likes of Bron Breakker, NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Tony D’Angelo but the jury is still out on Waller. Styles says Waller would rather look good and lose rather than look bad and win. Waller says he’s the reason his team won WarGames but Styles interrupts and says that Waller himself has said ‘likes and swipes’ are more important. Waller says he could ‘end’ Styles right here and now, Styles tells him to do it and while Waller has had a few good weeks of being a superstar he should try to be phenomenal for 20 years. Styles drops the mic and tells Waller to ‘bring it’ but Waller slides out of the ring and says he’ll let Omos deal with Styles first but he’s got next after that match, Styles music hits while the two chirp each other from afar as the segment ends.
— We then see Diamond Mine backstage. Malcolm Bivens says that what happened to NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes can happen to anyone that disrespects Diamond Mine. Bivens offers up a Champion vs. Champion match for both the NXT North American and Cruiserweight titles in two weeks at New Year’s Evil. Strong says Hayes has ‘two weeks to find his balls’ and Bivens sends us to a break with a ‘ho, ho, ho!’
— Back from the break and a vignette is shown of Riddle riding scooters with MSK, who thank him for ‘leading us on this beautiful journey’. Riddle says he may be their ‘Shaman Bro’ but they’re also teaching him things and he can’t wait to share it with Randy Orton. Riddle hands them some new merch and says he’ll be by their side next week when they confront NXT Tag Team Champions, Imperium. All three then seemingly get hit by a car but MSK are at the same bus stop they began their journey at, indicating that this whole thing was a dream but Riddle gets off of a bus and the three ride off on scooters as a ‘Best Day Ever’ graphic appears on the screen.
Von Wagner vs. Edris Enofe
— Enofe comes out firing and hits Wagner with a drop-kick but Wagner tosses him aside and drills him with a power-slam. Robert Stone comes to the stage and watches from afar. Enofe rolls Wagner up, Wagner powers out and unloads on Enofe with another massive slam. Wagner reigns down a barrage of punches to a downed Enofe, picks him up and lays him out with a big clothesline, goes for a power-bomb but Enofe slides back and rolls up Wagner for the 1-2-3 and the win out of nowhere.
Result: Edris Enofe def. Von Wagner via pinfall
— After the match, Enofe celebrates on the outside of the ring but Wager attacks him, tosses him back into the ring and drills him with a massive clothesline before storming out of the ring and walking directly by Robert Stone, who gives him a glance.
— We then see McKenzie backstage with NXT Champions Marcel Barthle and Fabian Aichner of Imperium. McKenzie asks them about MSK and their ‘journey’ with Riddle, both men respond in Italian or German, confusing McKenzie but Barthel then relays the message in English and says that MSK may have found a ‘Shaman’ but they have a General, referencing WALTER before walking off and we head to a break.
– Back from the break and we see a video package highlighting NXT Superstars giving back for the holidays at recent WWE community event in the Orlando, Florida area.
Io Shirai vs Elektra Lopez (with Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza)
— Lopez tosses Shirai to the corner and nails her with a back elbow, Shirai moves aside, avoiding a follow-up elbow and starts unloading shots to a now cornered Lopez. Shirai sees her flying knee attempt blocked and eats a clothesline from Lopez, who picks Shirai right back up and slams her down with a spine-buster, goes for the cover but Shirai escapes at a two-count. Shirai kips up, fires back with shots and blasts Lopez eith a drop-kick. Shirai hits a 619, goes to the top rope and hits a missile drop-kick, follows it up with running knees, goes for the cover but Lopez kicks out at two. Xyon Quinn comes out of nowhere and attacks Mendoza and Wilde at ringside, reveals a mistletoe in his teeth, hops up on the apron, Lopez grabs the mistletoe and holds it in the air above them but Santos Escobar appears and attacks Quinn. Escobar and Quinn brawl on the outside, Shirai uses the distraction to nail Lopez with her patented flying moonsault for the win.

– We then cut backstage and see NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, who’s backstage with Trick Williams. Hayes tells Diamond Mine that he’ll ‘give them their Christmas present’ and face Roderick Strong in a Champion vs. Champion, winner takes all match at New Year’s Evil but it’ll be him who walks away as a double champion and we head to a break.
— Back from the break and we see WWE Producer Brian Kendrick backstage sporting neck brace. Kendrick thanks Joe Gacy for the earlier apology but says it felt like Gacy thinks Kendrick should be the one to apologize. Kendrick says he thought about that and today he went in and resigned as a coach, and signed a waiver and says if Harland wants an apology, he can meet him in the ring next week. Commentary then announces that a contract signing between Carmelo Hayes and Roderick Strong will go down next week with Wade Barrett as the host. Grayson Waller vs. Dexter Lumis, Raquel Gonzalez & Cora Jade vs. Gig Dolin & Jacy Jane and Harland vs. Brian Kendrick are all confirmed for next week’s show as well as an appearance by Riddle alongside the former tag team champions MSK and it’s announced that our main event is up next after the break.
Tony D’Angelo vs. Pete Dunne
— Both men come out with bad intentions and brawl in the center of the ring as the bell sounds. D’Angelo slams Dunne, looks around to the crowd and slams him again and laughs. D’Angelo stomps a few times, Dunne’s had enough, powers out and unloads on D’Angelo with heavy strikes. A running knee from Dunne is blocked and D’Angelo starts unloading strikes of his own. D’Angelo is visibly angry and starts unloading even heavier strikes on Dunne. D’Angelo levels Dunne with an elbow, tosses him into the corner and drills him with a clothesline. D’Angelo hits a northern lights suplex, goes for a follow-up clothesline but it’s blocked by Dunne, who goes for the fingers and uses it to get D’Angelo in a triangle choke but D’Angelo powers out and drops Dunne on his head with an overhead suplex, goes for the cover but Dunne kicks out at two. Dunne goes for a running clothesline, D’Angelo blocks and again dumps Dunne directly on his head, Dunne waits in the corner and drills D’Angelo with a boot to the temple and follows it up with a running forearm to the jaw, goes for the cover but D’Angelo kicks out at two. Fans begin chanting ‘this is awesome!’ and the pair start trading heavy strikes in the center of the ring, Dunne stomps on D’Angelo’s fingers, D’Angelo avoids more danger and dumps Dunne on his head for about the 54th time this match. Dunne gets D’Angelo’s fingers but D’Angelo fishhooks Dunne with them and rips his mouth-guard out and sends him face-first into the turnbuckle. D’Angelo looks for the neck-breaker, Dunne blocks, snaps D’Angelo’s fingers and hits the Bitter End for the win.
Result: Pete Dunne def. Tony D’Angelo via pinfall
— After the match, D’Angelo tries to attack Dunne but Dunne avoids the attack and starts unloading on D’Angelo and tosses him to the outside. They brawl in front of the announce table and D’Angelo drills Dunne with a neck-breaker, grabs a crowbar and chokes out Dunne with it to a chorus of boos from the fans at the CWC. D’Angelo smashes Dunne’s fingers with the crowbar and celebrates as he’s continuously boo’d as the show goes off the air.
