Big E On A Potential Match Against Goldberg: ‘Who Better To Take Old Yeller Behind The Barn?’
Big E wants to be the man who has Goldberg’s last match.
Big E loves Bill Goldberg, he has made that abundantly clear while speaking about him on The New Day: Feel The Power podcast. In fact, it was while talking about a potential match with Bill Goldberg that Big E coined the phrase “big meaty men slapping meat.”
Now, Big E is WWE Champion and Goldberg is still under a WWE contract and recently fought for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam against Bobby Lashley. for the first time, Big E believes that there is an actual chance his dream match could happen.
Speaking about it during an appearance on Hot 97 radio, Big E admitted that while he used to make jokes about the match, it is something that he would really want to experience because Goldberg was, in fact, his favorite wrestler as a child.
“Man, I used to make jokes about it because I never thought I’d get the match, but as far as I know, Goldberg is still under contract. He’s still around. Goldberg was my favorite wrestler as a kid. I met him, probably 25 years ago, at a signing in Tampa.”
Peter Rosenberg, a regular WWE panelist, questioned whether or not E had concerns about Goldberg getting older and potentially being unsafe in the ring. Big E spun this into saying there would be nobody better than him to end Goldberg’s career. Even playfully comparing him to Old Yeller.
“Well, who better to retire him? Who better to take him out to pasture, take Old Yeller behind the barn? We’ll see. I just feel like I would be the right person to send them on home, give him his walking cane, and say, ‘Thank you for your service.’”
