Bryan Danielson: I Want To Wrestle Zack Sabre Jr In England
Bryan Danielson has another dream match in mind.
Danielson is coming off one dream match on Wednesday as he faced Kenny Omega at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. He is now ready to challenge the man who wins his award every year.
“I want to wrestle Zack Sabre Jr in England,” Danielson said in an interview with Brandon Walker of Rasslin.
Danielson noted that he used to clean up the Wrestling Observer’s Best Technical Wrestler Award, winning every year from 2005 to 2013, before he retired. After he retired, the award was renamed the Bryan Danielson Award. ZSJ had won it every year from 2014 to 2020.
“Zack Sabre Jr has won the award seven years in a row. Some of those years, I was in retirement. Even since I’ve come back, he’s still winning the Best Technical Wrestler Award that’s named after me! I’m number two in my own award. Now, I want a match with him in England. Somehow, Zack Sabre Jr, if that is his real name, is winning the Bryan Danielson award. That’s something I really look forward to,” he said.
Zack Sabre Jr is currently competing in NJPW’s G1 Climax, where he defeated Shingo Takagi on night three.
After the bout he said, “That’s the Japanese Dragon done… I wonder where the American Dragon is?”
Danielson went to a time limit draw with Omega at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam.
