WWE RAW Results for 8/9/21 Randy Orton Returns, Bobby Lashley to Address Goldberg

The Viper returns to kick off RAW, and The Almighty will address Goldberg’s challenge at Summerslam!

Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight’s edition of WWE RAW!

– We open tonight’s show as Randy Orton comes out to the ring before he’s interrupted by Riddle who talks about RKBRO before Randy says that they were a good team, past tense before they’re interrupted by RAW Tag Team champions AJ Styles and Omos who mock the two and say that it’s embarrassing. Randy then teases an RKO before AJ rolls out of the ring and Randy faces off with Omos before Omos counters an RKO and Riddle goes for it before Omos chokeslams him before Riddle rolls out of the ring and Randy looks down at him before leaving him behind as Riddle stumbles up the ramp to Randy as Randy walks away. We are then told that AJ versus Randy one on one has been made official for later tonight.

– We go backstage to an interview with Smackdown’s Baron Corbin who talks about everything he’s lost before saying that he’s homeless and Jinder offered him the opportunity to turn things around ahead of his match against Drew McIntyre up next as we go to commercial.

Baron Corbin vs Drew McIntyre

Drew chops Baron in the corner and whips him into the opposite corner as Jinder, Veer, and Shanky look on from a monitor backstage before Drew clotheslines Baron over the top rope and down onto the floor before chopping him against the announce table before Baron comes back with a thrust to the throat. Baron then sends Drew into the edge of the apron and back into the ring before driving his knee into his midsection and tossing Drew over the top rope and down onto the floor before Drew hits an overhead belly to belly into the barricade as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break to Baron hitting a superplex for two before whipping Drew into the corner and Drew headbutts him before beating Baron down in the corner and clotheslining him repeatedly before hitting an overhead belly to belly into a neckbreaker. Drew then calls for a Claymore before Baron begs for mercy and Drew hits the Claymore for the pin and the win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre defeats Baron Corbin via pinfall.

– After the match Jinder and company come out and down the ramp before Drew grabs his sword and they back away up the ramp.

– Backstage Randy is walking before Riddle shows up and says that he knows Randy doesn’t want to team with him, but he still wants to be friends with Randy before Randy says that he’s serious about what he said and to not call him bro before walking away.

Jeff Hardy vs Karrion Kross

Jeff kicks Karrion in the midsection before Kross sends him into the corner and hits a clothesline into a back elbow and another clothesline before they end up at ringside and Jeff sends Kross into the steps before hitting a running leg drop off of the steps. Back inside Kross pulls Jeff down from the top when Jeff teases a Swanton Bomb as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break as Jeff hits Kross with a DDT and hits an inverted atomic drop into a leg drop and a front dropkick into a splash for two before Jeff catches Kross with a kick and hits a diving splash off of the second rope for two before hitting a jawbreaker. Jeff then rolls Kross up with the tights for a near fall before Kross counters Whisper in the Wind into a Saito suplex and locks in the Kross Jacket for the tap and the win.

Winner: Karrion Kross defeats Jeff Hardy via submission.

– After the match the NXT champion hits another Saito and locks in the Kross Jacket a second time before breaking the hold and leaving.

– We get a video package for the brief history of RKOBRO before Riddle is interviewed backstage where he says that he doesn’t know what to feel, say, or do, but he knows that he has to respect Randy’s decision before riding off on his scooter.

Alexa Bliss vs Doudrop (w/ Eva Marie)

Alexa kicks Doudrop in the leg before Doudrop shoves her back and Alexa gets her back before locking in a sleeper and Doudrop slams her down before missing a senton and Alexa hits a PK before kicking her in the chest and hitting a cross body for two before Alexa rolls out of the ring and walks over to Eva at ringside. Eva throws something at Alexa before Alexa grabs her wrist and Doudrop attacks Alexa from behind before sending her into the barricade before tossing her back into the ring and kicking Alexa in the spine before Lilly distracts Doudrop by winking at her. Alexa then capitalizes and rolls Doudrop up with a jack knife cover for the pin and the win.

Winner: Alexa Bliss defeats Doudrop via pinfall.

Sheamus vs Ricochet

Ricochet goes for a waist lock before Sheamus tosses him away and backs him into the corner before Ricochet escapes and goes for another waist lock before Sheamus beats on him and takes him down with a side headlock take over before they run the ropes and Ricochet hits a head scissors into a dropkick. Sheamus takes Ricochet down with a straight armbar with a chin bar before he comes back with chops in the corner and Sheamus hits a scoop slam before Ricochet dodges a Brogue Kick and sends Sheamus over the top and down onto the floor. Ricochet then hits a suicide dive into a springboard cross body that sends the both of them over the announce table as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break to Ricochet making his comeback before Sheamus hits a backbreaker and takes Ricochet back down with a straight armbar with a chin bar before Ricochet gets to his feet and elbows his way free before sending Sheamus through the ropes and out of the ring. Ricochet then punches the face mask of Sheamus and hurts his hand before catching Sheamus with an enzuigiri up top before hitting a hurricanrana into a springboard clothesline and an asai for a near fall before hitting a drop toe hold into the middle turnbuckle and a diving clothesline. Sheamus then hits Ricochet with a Brogue Kick for the pin and the win when Ricochet is hurt more from the move than Sheamus thanks to his face mask for the pin and the win.

Winner: Sheamus defeats Ricochet via pinfall.

– After the match Damian Priest comes out to the ring and faces off with Sheamus ahead of his match against John Morrison up next as we go to commercial with the two facing off before Sheamus goes for a cheap shot and Damian sends him out of the ring as we go to commercial.

Damian Priest vs John Morrison (w/ The Miz)

Damian takes John down with a wrist lock before they exchange wrist locks and Damian tosses John into the corner and drops him with a strikes before John drops him with an enzuigiri and hits a sliding knee for two before Damian claps the ears of John and rocks him with kicks and forearms. Damian clotheslines John before they counter each other repeatedly until rocking each other with kicks before John sends him through the ropes and kicks him through the ropes before they get back inside and Damian finishes John with Hit the Lights for the pin and the win.

Winner: Damian Priest defeats John Morrison via pinfall.

– After the match Damian stalks Miz and squirts John with the water squirter before Miz stands up out of the wheelchair and it’s revealed that he’s been faking for some time before Miz runs off and to the back. Sheamus then comes back out and the two exchange words before Damian challenges Sheamus to a title match at Summerslam before Sheamus accepts and tells Damian to be ready for the fight of his life before Damian lays John out with a Brogue Kick.

– Backstage we see Mansoor and Mustafa ahead of Ali’s match against T-Bar as we go to commercial.

Mustafa Ali (w/ Mansoor) vs T-Bar (w/ Mace)

The two lock up before T-Bar tosses Ali into the corner and whips him before hitting a high back body drop before kneeing Ali in the midsection and Ali hits a single leg dropkick that sends T-Bar out of the ring before hitting a diving cross body and T-Bar catches him before slinging him into the barricade and back into the ring. T-Bar hits Ali with a discus boot for a near fall before Ali rocks him and T-Bar counters a tornado DDT into a choke breaker for a near fall as Ali gets his foot on the bottom rope before Mace takes out Mansoor at ringside and Ali pins T-Bar with a tornado DDT. T-Bar then kicks Ali when he goes up top and hits him with Feast Your Eyes for the pin and the win.

Winner: T-Bar defeats Mustafa Ali via pinfall.

– After the match Mansoor saves Ali from a double chokeslam and clears the ring.

– Backstage Reggie is having a photoshoot before Akira Tozawa tries to pin him, but only gets a near fall before R-Truth shows up and covers Akira when he thinks he won the title from Reggie before Reggie escapes out of the arena as we go to commercial.

– We get a backstage interview with AJ Styles ahead of his match against Randy Orton in our main event.

– WWE champion Bobby Lashley and MVP come out to the ring to address Goldberg’s title challenge for Summerslam.

– Rhea Ripley is interviewed backstage ahead of her match against Nikki Cross up next as we go to commercial.

Rhea Ripley vs Nikki Cross

Rhea drops Nikki before Nikki rolls her up for two before locking in a standing side headlock before taking Rhea down and Rhea comes back and slams Nikki before kicking her taped ribs and driving her shoulder into her ribs into the corner before tossing her around the ring. Rhea then whips Nikki into the corner before tossing her out of the ring and dropping her across the edge of the apron as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break to Rhea still in control before Nikki comes back with a DDT and forearms before hitting a head scissors and gets a near fall off of a clutch before countering the Riptide for a near fall before Rhea drops her and sets her up on the top rope before Nikki knocks her down. Nikki then goes for a diving cross body before she’s shoved off by Charlotte for the disqualification.

Winner: Nikki Cross defeats Rhea Ripley via disqualification.

– After the match Charlotte takes out both Nikki and Rhea with Natural Selection before standing over them with the RAW Women’s title and dropping it on Nikki’s face before leaving as we go to commercial.

– We get a vignette for Elias tossing his guitar into a fire and declaring that Elias is dead.

– Charlotte is interviewed backstage after her attack on Nikki and Rhea where she says that she’s not taking any chances and that she’s the most decorated woman in the history of WWE before saying that nothing is stopping her from walking out of Summerslam the champion.

– Backstage Randy is interviewed ahead of his main event match against AJ Styles where he says that he works best alone.

Randy Orton vs AJ Styles (w/ Omos)

Randy goes right after AJ and beats him down in the corner before dropping against across the top rope and stomping him before shoving AJ out of the ring and smashing his face into the announce table before Omos gets in Randy’s face and Randy tosses AJ into the apron and back inside. Omos then distracts Randy before AJ hits a baseball slide into a Phenomenal Forearm to the outside as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break to AJ in control as he hits a sliding forearm for two before locking in a rear chin lock and Randy gets to his feet before clotheslining AJ and hitting a powerslam for two before hitting a backbreaker for two before AJ locks in the Calf Crusher and Randy gets to the ropes for the break. AJ hits a forearm before Randy ducks a Phenomenal Forearm and hits a clothesline into a draping DDT before teasing an RKO and Omos drags AJ across the ring before Riddle shows up and puts Omos into the post and jumps on his back. Omos then drives Riddle into the post before Randy hits an RKO out of nowhere when AJ goes for a Phenomenal Forearm for the win.

Winner: Randy Orton defeats AJ Styles via pinfall.

– After the match Riddle asks Randy for a hug before Randy tries to leave and Riddle stops him before they share a hug and the announcers declare RKBRO is back before Randy hits Riddle with an RKO as we go off the air.
