Report: AEW Revolution To Be Held On A Sunday, Official Announcement Coming This Week
Reportedly, All Elite Wrestling will hold their first Sunday night pay-per-view event in March of 2021.
Since the beginning of AEW starting with their proof-of-concept event, All In, all major pay-per-views have been held on Saturday nights. This was another way they differentiated themselves from WWE, who has held every major main roster event on a Sunday night for decades.
According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, All Elite Wrestling will change their traditional pay-per-view night and hold Revolution 2021 on Sunday, March 7. Originally, the event was to be held on Saturday, February 27 but it is now being pushed back due to the Canelo vs. Alvarez boxing event being held on the same night. Currently, all signs point to AEW pay-per-view events returning to Saturday nights later in 2021.
Reports of the event being pushed back first surfaced in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer and according to the report by Johnson, the official announcement of the move will be made by AEW in the coming week.
Right now, the card is scheduled to feature WWE Hall of Famer Sting in his first match in over five years, as he teams with Darby Allin against Team Taz in a Street Fight. The Young Bucks will also be defending their AEW Tag Team Championship against the winner of a Battle Royal which will be held on February 3 at AEW Beach Break.
Fightful will continue to monitor the story and report all updates. We have live coverage of AEW Dark and Dynamite every Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
