Bianca Belair: Headlining WrestleMania Against Sasha Banks Would Be Part Of Black History
Bianca Belair is ready to make history against Sasha Banks.
Women have only headlined WrestleMania one time in its 36-year existence, but Belair is ready for it to happen once again if she gets a chance to step in the ring with Banks at the biggest event of the year.
Speaking to Andreas Hale of Sporting News, Belair discussed what it would mean to her to headline WrestleMania alongside Banks.
“Everything I have approached in WWE I do it looking for a purpose. When I think about a dream match, Sasha Banks would definitely be at the top of my list. And to think about headlining WrestleMania with Sasha Banks, that would be more than just a match. It’s more than having a great match with an effort to tear the house down. Nah, that’s top-level representation that will go down in the history books for multiple reasons. It gives me goosebumps. That would be a dream come true not just for me, but for many people. That would be a very special night, and I can’t even explain what it would mean to me,” she said.
When Andreas said it would be Black history, Belair excitedly agreed.
“Yeah! That’s exactly what that is. I just want it to happen. It’s not just to feed my ego. It would be a part of Black history,” she commented.
The only women’s match to headline WrestleMania took place at WrestleMania 35 when Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey battled for the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.
Belair is the favorite to win the Women’s Royal Rumble according to Oddschecker. Banks is the reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion.
“The EST of WWE” is scheduled to compete against Bayley in an Obstacle Course Challenge on Friday’s WWE SmackDown.
Fightful will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
