Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight’s special Christmas edition of WWE NXT!
WWE NXT Tag Team Championship Street Fight Match
The Kings of NXT (c) vs Drake Maverick & Killian Dain
Drake and Dain attack Oney and Danny from behind when they’re coming out to the ring before hitting them with chairs and Dain sets a table up at ringside. Drake wedges a chair in the corner in the ring before Oney and Danny double up on Drake, then Dain, sending Dain into the plexiglass barricade. In the ring Danny stomps Dain in the corner before Oney tags in and chokes him before Oney sets chairs up in the center only to be dropped across it by Dain. Drake and Dain then double up on Oney before Danny clotheslines Drake and Dain accidentally goes through a table propped up on the barricade as we go to commercial.
We come back to Oney in control of Drake in the ring, brutalizing him with chops before Danny comes in and chops him across the back. Oney and Danny play go to the crowd and mock Drake before chopping him and whipping him into the corner. Dain tags himself in and drops the tag champions with right hands before suplexing them and hitting running moves in opposite corners. Dain powerbombs Danny and splashes onto him before Danny and Oney knock Dain off of the apron and bouncing off of a pair of tables at ringside that don’t break. Drake comes back with a pair of low blows and whips Danny and Oney with his belt before Oney low blows him.
Danny then hits Drake with a cricket bat before they hit their implant DDT finisher for the pin and the win.
Winner: Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan retain their NXT Tag Team titles by defeating Drake Maverick and Killian Dain via pinfall.
– We go to The Way at the Gargano house where Johnny and Candice are celebrating with Austin Theory and Indi Hartwell who are in the role of Candice and Johnny’s children. Johnny reprimands Austin for saying No Way Jose before making him stop eating a Christmas cookie so he can open a present. Austin then opens the gift and it’s revealed to be a container of protein powder that Johnny made himself as we go to commercial.
– We get an extended video package for the NXT Championship rematch between the champion Finn Bälor and Kyle O’Reilly in two weeks time at New Year’s Evil.
– Backstage Tyler Rust and Malcolm Bivens are interviewed backstage where Malcolm does all of the talking and says that Tyler will show that he’s a diamond in the rough and not a rookie.
Isaiah Scott vs Jake Atlas
Atlas backs Scott into the corner for a clean break before Scott gets two off of a crucifix and the two exchange before Atlas slaps Scott. Scoff then beats Atlas down in the corner before taking him down and Jake hits a dragon screw that sends Isaiah out of the ring as we go to commercial.
We come back to Jake in control, nearly getting a near fall before Scott counters the Rainbow DDT and superkicks Jake out of the ring. Back in the ring Isaiah hits a tilt-a-whirl slam before hitting a dead lift suplex for two before Scott lands on his feet when Atlas hits a reverse frankensteiner. Scott then hits a House Call for a near fall before the JML Driver for the pin and the win.
Winner: Isaiah Scott defeats Jake Atlas via pinfall.
– After the match Jake denies a handshake by Isaiah.
– The Undisputed Era’s Cole and Strong are interviewed backstage before they’re interrupted by Velveteen Dream before Cole punches Dream and says that he’ll show him that UE are still the leaders of NXT.
– We see Rhea Ripley and Dakota Kai backstage getting ready for their match up next as we go to commercial.
– Backstage Timothy Thatcher cuts a promo on Tommaso Ciampa and says that Ciampa came after him and wanted to fight him when he didn’t want to, but now he does.
Rhea Ripley vs Dakota Kai
Before the match we get a graphic from yesterday where the two exchanged on Twitter before NXT General Manager William Regal chimed in and made it so Raquel Gonzalez will be barred from ringside. Once the match starts Dakota kicks Rhea’s legs before Rhea spins Dakota in a gut wrench and whips her into the corner. Kai then kicks Rhea from the apron and stomps her shoulder before driving her shoulder first into the post as we go to commercial.
We come back to Kai in control of Rhea on the ring, having Rhea in an armbar before Rhea hits a one armed powerbomb to get free before dropping her with clotheslines. Rhea hits a snap mare into a basement dropkick before dropkicking Kai and pancaking her onto the mat for two before the two exchange strikes until Rhea dodges a Helluva Kick and hits an electric chair face buster for two. Kai sends Rhea face first into the middle turnbuckle before hitting a Helluva Kick and Rhea locks in a Cloverleaf as Raquel comes out onto the stage. Dakota gets to the ropes for the break before Rhea mocks Raquel on the stage and sets Dakota on the top turnbuckle before Kai fights her. Kai then hits the Kairopractor for a near fall before countering the Rip Tide into a guillotine and Rhea hits it on the second attempt for the pin and the win.
Winner: Rhea Ripley defeats Dakota Kai via pinfall.
– Raquel gets into the ring and faces off with Rhea after the match before the two brawl and are separated by officials and producers.
– We go back to The Way where Indi opens her gift and it’s revealed to be a Playstation 5 before she checks and finds the box empty. Johnny then gives Indi the name Indi Wrestling before he and Candice say that they love Indi Wrestling in reference to the independent wrestling scene.
– Backstage Toni Storm is interviewed where she talks about taking out Ember Moon like she said she would and how she is setting her sights on the NXT Women’s Championship held by Io Shirai.
– We get a video package for Bronson Reed who is in action up next as we go to commercial.
– We come back to a video package of Xia Li beating BOA before she opens her eyes, BOA opens his and we see a closer look at the woman with war paint on her face.
Bronson Reed vs Ashante Thee Adonis
Ashante locks in a standing side headlock before Reed clotheslines him and Ashante comes back with kicks and forearms before Reed runs him over. Reed then kicks Ashante in the face and goes up top before hitting the Tsunami Splash for the pin and the win.
Winner: Bronson Reed defeats Ashante Thee Adonis via pinfall.
– Backstage NXT Women’s champion Io Shirai is interviewed briefly before she makes her way out to the ring and sits on a chair to wait for Toni Storm. Mercedes Martinez then comes out of nowhere and attacks and lays out the champ as we go to commercial.
– We go back to the Gargano household where Candice opens her present that is revealed to be a wheel from Shotzi Blackheart’s tank before The Way take a group picture together.
Timothy Thatcher vs Leon Ruff
Tim takes Leon down onto the mat before ripping at his face and nose before dropping him with an elbow across the neck Ruff locks in a headlock. Tim drops Leon with a back elbow and suplexes him across the ring before stretching him on the mat and driving his knee into his ribs. Tim hits a belly to belly suplex before setting a chair at ringside for Ciampa before knocking Leon out of the air. Leon then pins Tim out of nowhere with an inside cradle for the win.
Winner: Leon Ruff defeats Timothy Thatcher via pinfall.
– Tim attacks Leon after the match before Tommaso runs out to the ring and hits the Willows Bell when Tim is getting back into the ring before leaving.
– We get a video package promo by Damian Priest who cuts a promo on Karrion Kross ahead of their match at New Year’s Evil as we go to commercial.
– We get Dexter Lumis drawing backstage before we go back to the ring for our next match between Tyler Rust and Ariya Daivari.
Ariya Daivari vs Tyler Rust w/Malcolm Bivens
They exchange wrist locks before Tyler backs Ariya into the ropes for a clean break before Tyler spins Ariya around and locks in an armbar. Ariya comes back with an enzuigiri before snapping the neck of Tyler in the ropes before dropkicking him off of the apron and tossing him back inside. Tyler locks in a triangle choke before Ariya gets to the ropes for the break before Tyler kicks Ariya in the chest and arm before Ariya chops him in the throat. Tyler then locks in a double armbar and forces Ariya to verbally submit.
Winner: Tyler Rust defeats Ariya Daivari via pinfall.
– Backstage Leon Ruff is interviewed backstage where he informs the interviewer that he spoke to GM Regal who is giving him a rematch at Johnny Gargano and his North American Championship on next week’s show as we go to commercial.
– We come back to a video package promo by Karrion Kross ahead of his match against Damian Priest at New Year’s Evil.
Adam Cole w/Roderick Strong vs Velveteen Dream
Dream backs up when Adam tries to lock up before he locks up with Adam who takes him down with a side headlock take over before Dream comes back with a closed right hand. Dream plays to the crowd before Adam drops him with a back elbow and forearms before dropping him with a pump kick. Adam hits a jumping neckbreaker before Dream goes for a slingshot and Adam boots him out of the air and onto the floor before they clash heads. Pete Dunne then comes out and takes out Strong before Dream attacks Cole from behind when he’s distracted as we go to commercial.
We come back to Dream in control of Adam before Dream misses the Purple Rainmaker and Adam comes back with clotheslines and a back elbow into an ushigoroshi for a near fall. Dream sends Adam out of the ring and goes for a diving ax handle off of the top before Adam superkicks him in midair before superkicking him once they’re back in the ring. Adam locks in a figure four before Dream gets to the bottom rope for the break before hitting Adam with a DDT and the Purple Rainmaker for a near fall. Adam slaps Dream before hitting a shoulder breaker and Dream counters a Panama Sunrise before Adam superkicks Dream and hits the Last Shot for the pin and the win.
Winner: Adam Cole defeats Velveteen Dream via pinfall.
– After the match Adam says that the NXT Championship is coming back to UE at New Year’s Evil as we go off the air.
