Dana White Blames Production For Incident With Ronda Rousey
Although current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes and former champion Ronda Rousey were not competing at UFC 205, the two got to face off during the UFC 205 weigh-ins at Madison Square Garden as a special surprise for the live crowd.
However, after the face off took place, an incident occurred when Rousey stormed off, while Nunes was getting ready to be interviewed. According to UFC President Dana White, neither woman were supposed to speak to the live crowd. Instead, it was a snafu.
"My production guy screwed that thing up," White said to MMA Fighting. "It made Ronda look bad again, like she just stormed off. They were not supposed to do an interview. They were supposed to go out there, square off, and they were both supposed to walk away. We're not perfect all the time. Our team coming into this big event, we made a lot of mistakes coming into this event that I'm not happy about. Not stuff that you would notice. I try to be perfect, but it didn't work out."
White said that the now-reclusive former champion Rousey plans on doing mainstream media, but he isn't sure if Rousey will speak to the MMA media.
"She was on Ellen," White said. "She's doing Kimmel. She's doing all the talk shows. Is she gonna talk to you guys (the MMA media)? I don't know."
UFC 207 takes place on Friday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey headlining.
