Dana White Teases Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal: “How Do You Not Make That Fight?”

UFC President Dana White is eyeing Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal.

There was a time when it was thought that Masvidal and Nate Diaz were going to have a rematch in 2021, but UFC President Dana White has a different match-up in mind. White now wants to pair BMF champ Masvidal against former UFC interim welterweight champion Covington. The UFC President says that fight makes sense, especially after Covington’s performance against former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at UFC Vegas 11.

“It’s very possible (Masivdal vs. Covington) is next,” White said at the UFC 253 post-fight press conference (via Nolan King and John Morgan of MMA Junkie). “… I don’t know if we’ve even talked to Nate yet. But yeah, after the Colby fight (vs. Tyron Woodley), how do you not make that fight? That’s the fight that makes sense.”

Covington and Masvidal have been rivals for quite a while now with Covington referring to Masvidal as “street Judas.” White also believes the Diaz rematch will always be there in the future for Masvidal.

“The Nate Diaz rematch is going to be there no matter what happens,” White said.

It is unknown at this time as to when Masvidal vs. Covington will happen or if the BMF Championship will get defended in that encounter.
