Amanda Nunes May Take The Rest Of 2020 Off

Two division UFC champion Amanda Nunes successfully defended the women’s featherweight title against Felicia Spencer in the main event of UFC 250.

A victorious Nunes, due to a potential leg injury and forthcoming motherhood, it could be a while before Nunes competes again.

“A break for sure,” she said after the event (via Steven Marrocco of MMA Fighting). “I have to see what’s going on with my legs. I always get hurt with this leg — I don’t know what’s going on. And my baby is coming in three months, she’s going to be here. I have to organize a lot of things, her room, and I really need a break right now. … I think maybe off [the rest of the year] for sure.”

There has been no word yet from the UFC as to what could be next for Nunes, who became the first fighter to defend two titles in two different weight classes while also holding them simultaneously.

Nunes is excited to see what’s next for her when the two division champion does return to action.

“We’ll see,” she said. “I’m very excited to see my next step.”

The break could be a good move for the dual champion, who has no clear cut contender in either bantamweight or featherweight to fight.
