Report: Fight Island May Be Located In Abu Dhabi

The UFC is expected to start running events in the much hyped “Fight Island” later this month, with the first card expected to run there being UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker on June 27.

However, while an exact location for “Fight Island” has yet to be revealed, a report from Raphael Marinho of Combate is stating that “Fight Island” is located in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is home to approximately two hundred small islands and while “Fight Island” is reportedly located on one of those islands, an exact location still isn’t known at this moment. The idea behind “Fight Island” is to hold various UFC cards that the international fighters can compete at, as travel restrictions to the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic has caused issues for foreign competitors under a UFC deal.

Fighters traveling to Abu Dhabi for the shows will be subject to coronavirus related testing, but they will not be required to self-quarantine for fourteen days upon arrival to the country, although it is recommended that people do quarantine until test results come back.

There has been no comment from the UFC at this time as to the exact location of “Fight Island.”
