Mustafa Ali Comments On The Murder Of George Floyd: I Became A Cop To Change The System From Within
Mustafa Ali speaks on the death of George Floyd, saying that he became a cop to try and change the system from within.
Following the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a former police officer in Minnesota on Monday, May 25, 2020, many protests began all over the country.
WWE Superstar Mustafa Ali is seen on screen as a force for light, change, and the good in the world, but he is also a former police officer from Chicago. Speaking on Twitter, Ali would say that he tried to change the system from within during his time as an officer and would regularly step in to stop excessive force.
I’m a former police officer. I joined the force because I believed the only real way to bring change to policing is from within. I remember being told “empathy will get you killed.” No, lack of empathy allows you to kill. We have to change policing from within. #GeorgeFloyd

The point of all this is simple; society and specifically our African American brothers and sisters have a justifiable distrust with the police. It’s the responsibility of the police to fix that issue but they won’t. Thus, it is on us,as a society to force that change from within

Furthermore, Ali would step up to cover the booking fee of a wrestler who says that he has been told to “tone down” his political stance at the risk of losing bookings. Ali swiftly recommended him to Freelance Wrestling in Chicago and told him to continue speaking up.
I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with that, man. When everything’s back up and running and you feel you speaking up has hurt your bookings, let me know. I’m sure @FreelanceWres would love to have you in. Booking fee covered by me.
Speak up. Rise up. https://t.co/1WrJXOgGdn
