Patricio Pitbull Wants Third Bellator MMA Title, Says Promotion Could Return By July
Patricio Pitbull is a two division champion right now in Bellator MMA, holding the promotion’s lightweight and featherweight championships.
It appears that two titles aren’t enough for the double champion, who wants to become a triple champion.
“I want to accomplish (being) a three-simultaneous-weight champion,” Pitbull told MMA Junkie. “I asked Bellator not only to defend my belt back in December (the lightweight belt), but also to fight for the vacated bantamweight belt. With the situation we’re in now, I would like to fight for the (lightweight) title at the end of the year. Then, I’d like to fight for the vacated bantamweight belt. After that, they could get some other directions for those divisions.”
Pitbull wants to compete for the vacant bantamweight title, which is a weight class he has never competed at before.
Bellator MMA has been on hiatus due to the coronavirus, but Pitbull believes live cards will resume by the end of July.
“The information that I have is what everyone has,” Pitbull said. “Bellator might return by the end of July. My desire is to return at the first event they have, but I haven’t heard anything from the promotion yet.”
The double champion is still a part of the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix and is expected to fight Pedro Carvalho in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
