Zhang Weili Finally Returns To China, 6 Weeks After UFC 248

UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Weili Zhang successfully defended the gold against former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event of UFC 248.

That event was held on Saturday, March 7 and the champion has now been able to return to her home country of China, six weeks after the event took place according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN.

Weili actually left China weeks ahead of the UFC 248 event due to both the travel restrictions and self-quarantining surrounding the coronavirus

The champion chose to stay in Las Vegas, Nevada after the event for the six weeks to minimize the risk of traveling during the pandemic.

There is no word at this time as to when Weili plans on fighting again, but Jedrzejczyk has already called for a rematch with the champion.

Dana White did say that the UFC is building a “Fight Island” as well as holding future events in the UFC Apex, so Weili’s next title defense is likely to happen from one of those two locations.
