Dana White Says Postponed UFC Event Would’ve Gone On Until 10 Person Guidelines Were Enforced
This coming Saturday was supposed to be the day for the UFC Fight Night London card, which was going to be moved to the United States before being postponed altogether.
UFC President Dana White says the event would’ve gone on in the United States if it weren’t for the ten person guideline put in place by the government in an attempt to slow the coronavirus.
“We followed and complied with all the rules,” White said to Aaron Bronsteter of TSN (via MMA Junkie). “Every time they came out and said – I don’t remember what the first number was, then the second number was 50 and we figured that one out – and then when the number got to 10? We’re good, but we can’t pull that one off.”
The UFC wound up postponing two more events and the promotion won’t be back in action until UFC 249 on April 18.
White is also confident that the promotion can pull off more events once the restrictions are loosened, especially since they have the UFC Apex.
“I have my own arena,” White said. “I have my own production. I have everything. I have everything you need to put on events. So there isn’t much that I can’t pull off.”
This coronavirus pandemic has not just affected the UFC, but other promotions like Bellator MMA and One Championship have altered or postponed events as well.
