Jonathan Martinez Manager To File An Appeal After UFC 247 Loss

Jonathan Martinez competed on the preliminary card of UFC 247, suffering a controversial split decision loss to Andre Ewell.

This was just one of many controversial decisions made by the judges at UFC 247 and Martinez’s manager plans on doing something about it.

Jason House, who is Martinez’s manager, says an appeal is going to be filed on Martinez’s behalf.

House would issue the following statement to MMA Fighting

“We plan on filing an appeal this week on behalf of Jonathan Martinez. A large part of this appeal will focus on the judging done by Joe Soliz, who scored the bout 30-27 for Ewell. Mr. Soliz consistently demonstrated his incompetence and inability to score a mixed martial arts bout properly throughout the night. It is our goal to get the decision overturned and ensure that Mr. Soliz never judges one of our client’s fights again.”

Joe Soliz, who is the judge mentioned by House in the statement, also awarded Trevin Giles the first round of the bout against James Krause and also awarded Jon Jones at 49-46 scorecard against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247.

There is no word yet on when the appeal is going to be heard or when a decision will get made by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
