Cain Velasquez Not Surprised That Brock Lesnar Failed Drug Test
Cain Velasquez has felt Brock Lesnar's power before, and wasn't surprised by his drug test failure.
Velasquez defeated Lesnar for his first UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2010 at UFC 121. The two have never fought again, but the two were on the very same card this past summer at UFC 200.
At that event, Velasquez defeated Travis Browne by first round TKO and Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt by unanimous decision. After his fight with Hunt, it was revealed that Lesnar had failed drug tests for the estrogen blocker clomiphene, and is still awaiting a hearing from the Nevada State Athletic Commissions (NSAC). Velasquez recently spoke with MMA Fighting about his former rival in Lesnar, talking about his failed drug test.
“I would say from looking at his body that it didn’t surprise me, you know? He’s just a big, massive guy and you don’t see other fighters like that," said Velasquez.
Velasquez also talked about drug test failures as a whole and why he does not celebrate when a fighter does fail a drug test.
“That he came out positive, it kind of sucks because I just want my competitors, the guys who I fight against, I want them to be on the same level that I am, you know? Just some of the people out there that are cheating, it’s good that we’re catching them, USADA is doing a great job of catching them, and hopefully discourages others from doing them so this sport can be a clean sport," said Velasquez, who hasn't failed a drug test.
Velasquez currently doesn't have a fight scheduled, but the UFC is rumored to be targeting a potential rematch with Fabricio Werdum.
