Michael Bisping Does Not Think Yoel Romero Deserves Title Opportunity
Michael Bipsing is just a few short days away from defending his middleweight championship for the first time against Dan Henderson at UFC 204, but there are already contenders waiting in the wings.
However, Bipsing has other contenders who are vying for a title opportunity this fall. One of those fighters is Yoel Romero.
Bisping, when speaking with The MMA Hour, expressed his opinion on why he believes that Romero doesn't deserve a title opportunity.
"I'll tell you who I don't think deserves it — Yoel Romero. I don't think he deserves it. There's no smoke without fire. He got a reduced sentence, but the fact is, he still got a sentence. Even if you take performance enhancing drugs, the benefits of those stay in your system for a long, long time. So I don't think Yoel Romero deserves it," said Bisping.
Bipsing, in the very same interview, also took a look at some of the other top contenders for his middleweight championship.
"I beat Luke Rockhold, I knocked him out. Yoel Romero I have no interest. Jacare is another guy, he's nice as well. They're all worthy, they're all very very good, but of course Yoel is coming off a ban for performance enhancing drugs. But other than that, you know who I think wins? I think Weidman beats Romero and I think Jacare beats Rockhold."
UFC 204 takes place on Saturday, October 8th from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England with Michael Bipsing and Dan Henderson headlining in a middleweight championship fight. Fightful.com will have full coverage of the event.
