Conor McGregor Says That Justin Gaethje Could Be Next

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor headlines UFC 246 later this month against Donald Cerrone.

While Cerrone is next for McGregor, an upcoming opponent could be former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje.

“He is on the list,” McGregor told The Mac Life (via Nolan King of MMA Junkie). “Maybe I will face him next. Maybe I’ll face him next. He has it coming to him. I laugh at how Justin has … he’s a funny guy.”

Gaethje has recently been speaking out against UFC President Dana White, who has been stating that McGregor could face UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov with a win over Cerrone.

McGregor says that Gaethje has been taking those comments to the heart and he knows what Gaethje is feeling at the moment.

“He’s been taking it very to heart. I know the feeling when you do that. Maybe I’ll get through Donald and I’ll have a quick turnaround against Justin. Maybe that’s what will happen. But Justin is on the list, no doubt,” says McGregor.

UFC 246 takes place on Saturday, January 18 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
