Next months UFC Fight Night Auckland card has taken a hit as Tyson Pedro has been pulled from a light heavyweight division bout against Vinicius Moreira.

Pedro revealed the news himself through Instagram:

Peaks and Valleys — Just when you think everything is going to your plan something hits you upside the head with a different one. Out of the fight in Feb, I’m gutted but thank you for all the messages. I’m not stressed as I know I’m coming back, I’ve never stopped before, so I’m not going to now. Every time I’ve messed up in life, been injured or blind sighted, something good came out from it, that I couldn’t see at the time. So until then, it’s all smiles and time to grind again. A massive positive was being able to connect and train with the boys down @citykickboxing thanks for having my family come through and showing us love. I’m praying for good news from the surgeon and a quick turnaround —- #hopeforthebestplanfortheworst #1yearrecovery2weekcamp #ifnotmethenwho

UFC officials are seeking a replacement for Moreira to face, as he is expected to remain on the card at this time.

Moreira (9-4-0) is winless thus far under the UFC banner, having dropped three straight in the promotion. Moreira competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 3, defeating John Allan Arte by second round submission. Moreira has competed a total of thirteen times as a professional MMA fighter and none of those bouts went the distance.

UFC Fight Night Auckland takes place on Saturday, February 22 from the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand with Paul Felder and Dan Hooker headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
