Jose Aldo Claims Georges St. Pierre Wants $10 Million To Fight Conor McGregor
Current UFC Interim Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is currently at odds with the UFC after the announcement of the UFC 205 main event between UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez and UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor. So he's not aftaid of spilling the beans.
Aldo, who is looking to either get out of his contract with the UFC or retire from MMA altogether, recently spoke with Combate. During the interview, Aldo made some pretty specific claims in regards to what former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre wanted to fight McGregor.
"I think that my life and the whole featherweight division needs to keep going, not being stalled while he (McGregor) does three fights in the lightweight division. Another one that he wanted to do, make a super fight with Georges St-Pierre, which didn't work out because Georges wanted $10 million dollars and Dana didn't want to pay it. So he still put him with Nate for the second time. So for me, Dana's word is worthless” said Aldo.
The second fight between McGregor and Nate Diaz did happen at UFC 202, where McGregor earned a split decision to even the rivalry up with Diaz, Diaz won the first meeting between the two at UFC 196. Both broke UFC PPV records.
Aldo has no history with GSP, but has plenty with McGregor, who knocked him out in thirteen seconds at UFC 194 to unify the featherweight titles (McGregor was the interim featherweight champion while Aldo was the featherweight champion).
