Report: Lerone Murphy Faces Gabriel Benitez At UFC Fight Night London
A featherweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night London as Lerone Murphy is in action against Gabriel Benitez.
Chisanga Malata of the Express UK first revealed the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Murphy (8-0-1) made his UFC debut earlier this year at UFC 242, fighting Zubaira Tukhugov to a split draw. Murphy fought a total of four times in the Full Contact Contenders promotion, scoring three of four victories by way of KO/TKO. Murphy has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those bouts went the distance.
Benitez (21-7-0) has won two of his last three under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Jason Knight and Humberto Bandenay. Benitez also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Latin America 1, making it to the semi-finals before losing to Leonardo Morales. Benitez is a former Xtreme Fighters Latino Featherweight Champion, defeating Daniel Salas in May of 2011 to claim the gold.
UFC Fight Night London takes place on Saturday, March 21 from the 02 Arena in London, England with Tyron Woodley and Leon Edwards headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
