Report: Anthony Pettis Faces Diego Ferreira At UFC 246
A lightweight division attraction has been added to UFC 246 as former UFC Lightweight Champion #11 Anthony Pettis faces Diego Ferreira.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Pettis (22-9-0) is back at lightweight after a two fight run at welterweight, where he defeated Stephen Thompson and lost to Nate Diaz. Pettis has competed as a featherweight, lightweight and welterweight in the UFC, earning an overall record of 9-8-0 in the promotion. Pettis is a former UFC Lightweight Champion, defeating Ben Henderson at UFC 164 to claim the gold.
Ferreira (16-2-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a five fight winning streak, having defeated Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Jared Gordon, Kyle Nelson, Rustam Khabilov and Mairbek Taisumov. Ferreira hasn’t suffered a defeat in over four years, with that last loss coming to Dustin Poirier at UFC Fight Night 63. Ferreira has suffered a total of two losses as a professional MMA fighter and both came in UFC competition.
UFC 246 takes place on Saturday, January 18 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
