Report: Aleksei Oleinik Faces Maurice Greene At UFC 246
A heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 246 as #11 Aleksei Oleinik is in action against #15 Maurice Greene.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Oleinik (57-13-1) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Walt Harris and Alistair Overeem. Oleinik hasn’t earned a victory in over a year, with that last win coming over Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night Moscow. Oleinik has previously headlined two UFC events and holds a record of 1-1-0 in those encounters.
Greene (8-3-0) has won three of four under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Michel Batista, Jeff Hughes and Junior Albini. Greene has previously challenged for the LFA Heavyweight Championship, losing to the aforementioned Hughes in their first encounter at LFA 38 in April of 2018. Greene has suffered three losses as a professional MMA competitor and they all came to either UFC and/or Bellator MMA veterans.
UFC 246 takes place on Saturday, January 18 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
