EXCLUSIVE: Sami Callihan Says IMPACT Gives Fans Who Yearn For Attitude Era What They Want

The DRAW is ready to become the champ.

Sami Callihan will challenge Brian Cage for the IMPACT World Championship at Bound For Glory.

Joining the company in 2017 at that year’s Bound For Glory, Callihan quickly became a top star for the promotion. His violent feuds with Eddie Edwards and Pentagon Jr. provided a resurgence for aggressive and violent wrestling in mainstream professional wrestling for North America.

Speaking with Fightful’s Denise Salcedo, Sami praised the company for becoming The Little Engine That Could in pro wrestling and the brand’s resurgence, “I think that’s a big feather in our cap,” he said. “We’re the company that pretty much had one foot in the grave a couple of years ago. Now, with the new regime, the new roster, we’ve really stepped up and become the little engine that could in professional wrestling, the island of misfit toys. And now the entire world is talking about IMPACT Wrestling once again.”

Sami also spoke of the unique in-ring brand IMPACT has developed over the last year talked about giving fans a little bit of the attitude back into wrestling and the role that AXS plays in their growth.

“I think that was one of the biggest issues with everyone that was on the roster. We’ve been putting on some of the best professional wrestling shows on a weekly basis for the last year, but not a lot of people is able to see them just with terrible timing and terrible stations that we’re on at moment with this opportunity be on AXS,” said the Callihan Death Machine. “Now, the entire world is going to be able to see exactly what we were doing the last year. People wanted the attitude era, We’ve pretty much given them the attitude era. Our impact wrestling’s not afraid to offend some people, ruffle some feathers. They’re not afraid to step out of the box and give people that edgy wrestling product. And we are that true alternative. And one of the only companies that will like cross those lines.”

Sami goes for the gold against Brian Cage on Sunday, October 20th, 2019. Just two days before the brand reboots its television show for AXS TV.

Fightful will have total Bound For Glory coverage in our results section.
