Brendan Schaub Says Nate Diaz Tried To Dupe Conor McGregor At UFC 202

Conor McGregor won the rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 by majority decision. Early on in the fight, McGregor knocked Diaz down three times to the mat and appeared to have the Stockton, CA resident in danger.

Recently, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub was a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience and said he saw Diaz at the grocery store. According to what the former lightweight title challenger told Schaub, he was fine and was trying to goad McGregor to the mat.

“I saw Nate at the grocery store randomly, he said he was falling on purpose to dupe Conor," Schaub said. "He says ‘I know the first three rounds, he’s so fast and he will be tough, so when he hit me, the plan was to fall down to get him to follow me down.’ He says ‘I couldn’t take him down, so the plan was to get me follow me down there.’”

“That’s a risky game plan, but that’s from the horse’s mouth,” Schaub said.

“Is that one of those ‘I meant to do that’ things?” Rogan laughed.

“I don’t know. I don’t know Nate Diaz enough to be like ‘are you serious?'," Schaub said.

UFC 203's Fabricio Werdum claims that he baited the legendary Fedor Emelianenko into his first loss in similar fashion.

Here are two of the three knockdowns in the fight.

Diaz stated after UFC 202 that he will not fight again until the trilogy fight against the Irishman is made. McGregor is also on the sidelines but speculation is that he will return at UFC 205 against interim featherweight champion Jose Aldo or lightweight champion Eddle Alvarez.
