Mick Maynard Named UFC VP Of Talent Relations
The former owner of the Legacy Fighting Championships, Mick Maynard, has been hired by the UFC and will now be the UFC Vice President Of Talent Relations.
Maynard will be working alongside Sean Shelby, who has recently been promoted to Senior Vice President Of Talent Relations in the UFC.
This duo will now work together as matchmakers for the UFC, as current matchmaker Joe Silva will be retiring at the end of the year.
UFC President Dana White recently spoke about the retirement of Silva and the contributions he made to the sport.
“Joe Silva’s contributions to the UFC over the last 20 years were huge, and he played a big role in helping make the sport as big as it is today,” UFC President Dana White said. “He left his mark on this sport and I wish him nothing but success in retirement.”
Dana White also took the time to talk about the addition of Maynard in the UFC and his role with the MMA promotion.
“I’m excited to have Mick on board working alongside Sean,” White added. “Mick has become one of the most respected people in the fight game and he’s done a great job in finding and developing talent. Sean has been a tremendous asset to the UFC for a long time, and I look forward to working with Sean and Mick in the years to come.”
Maynard, who’s former promotion (Legacy Fighting Championship) recently merged with the Resurrection Fighting Alliance to form the Legacy Fighting Alliance, said this about his new job.
“This is an incredible opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to delivering the action-packed, exciting fights that UFC fans have come to expect,” Maynard said.
