Report: Wanderlei Silva Signs With Bare Knuckle FC
Another longtime MMA veteran has reportedly signed a deal with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships as UFC/PRIDE/Bellator MMA veteran Wanderlei Silva has signed a contract with the promotion.
Fansided first reported the signing, but the length of the contract and any financial numbers associated with the deal weren’t revealed at this time. The report also states that an opponent and debut date for Silva is expected to be announced at BKFC 8 on October 19, which features other MMA veterans in Antonio Silva and Gabriel Gonzaga headlining.
Silva actually does have some experience as a bare knuckle fighter, as he competed in bare knuckle fighting events for the Brazilian Vale Tudo Fighting organization in the mid-90’s.
The fighter has been on a steady decline in professional MMA, as Silva is currently in the midst of a two fight losing streak and hasn’t picked up a victory in over six years. Silva has been inactivity as a fighter in recent years, having fought just twice since getting released by the UFC in 2013. Silva last competed at Bellator 206 in September of 2018, suffering a second round TKO loss to Rampage Jackson.
