PFL Stands With GI Foundation Founder and MMA Legend Randy Couture to Raise Awareness and Support Military Veterans at Each Playoff Event – October 11, 17, and 31 Broadcast Live on ESPN2 and ESPN+
The Professional Fighters League (PFL), the first organization ever to present MMA through a Regular Season, Playoffs and Championship format, today announced its support of the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation under its “PFL Fights for Communities” platform, inclusive of ticket donations, fundraising and advertising.
The PFL is headed to Las Vegas for the 2019 PFL Playoffs. For the first time ever, in the fight capital of the world, MMA fans will experience fighters fighting twice in one night to reach the PFL Championship.
Based in Las Vegas, the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation was founded by MMA legend, United States Army veteran, and PFL color analyst Randy Couture in 2009 to honor the veterans of America’s armed forces. The foundation was especially formed to raise money and awareness for those wounded in action and their families. Many of the injuries are traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, burns and blast injuries that will retire these brave men and women from the armed forces.
“Randy Couture is a part of the PFL family, and we are incredibly proud to support his foundation as we share in his commitment to supporting our military and veterans,” said Peter Murray, CEO of the PFL. “As we head to MGM’s Mandalay Bay, the home of the 2019 PFL Playoffs, we look forward to using our platform to shine a light on the work being done by the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation and honor those brave service men and women who sacrificed so much defending this country.”
“I wore Army green for six years and have witnessed the incredible strength and fortitude displayed by these brave men and women in the face of adversity,” said Couture. “Our mission is to fulfill any of their unmet needs as they return to civilian life. We wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of volunteers, businesses and organizations who donate their time, resources and energy toward the cause. I’m proud to be a part of an organization in the PFL that shares my commitment to supporting our armed forces and bringing the fight to communities across the US.”
PFL will host service men and women touched by the GI Foundation and MVP (Merging Vets and Players), another organization supported by Randy that aids in veteran’s transition to civilian life, and will provide free tickets to Military members and veterans throughout the 2019 PFL Playoffs, which take place on October 11, 17 and 31 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. At each event, PFL will sell tickets for a 50/50 Raffle in support of the GI Foundation. Fifty percent of the jackpot will go to a lucky winner, and the other fifty percent to the foundation. The PFL will also debut an awareness marketing campaign, highlighting the foundation’s efforts.
