Report: Tournament To Crown New Bantamweight Champion Set For Cage Warriors Unplugged 2

The Cage Warriors Bantamweight Title is going to get a new owner as a four man tournament will happen at Cage Warriors Unplugged 2 and the winner will become the new champion.

MMA Fighting is reporting that Marko Kovacevic faces Josh Reed and Scott Malone will face Jack Cartwright in the opening round bouts, with the winners facing off later in the evening for the vacant bantamweight title. An alternate bout will also happen at the show as Ayton De Paepe takes on Tanio Pagliariccio. 

Kovacevic (11-2-1) comes into the tournament riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the two pack of David-Tonatiuth Crol and Hovik Zakarian. Reed (9-3-0) will also enter the tournament on a two fight winning streak, having defeated the duo of Rory Evans and Ayton De Paepe. 

Malone (5-1-0) has won three of four fights under the Cage Warriors banner, with one win coming over fellow tournament competitor Josh Reed. Cartwright (4-0-0) is going to be making his Cage Warriors debut in this tournament and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over two years. 

Paepe (8-3-0) is winless thus far in Cage Warriors competition, dropping bouts to Jack Shore and Josh Reed. Pagliariccio (5-0-0) is going to be making his Cage Warriors debut in this bout, with three of those five professional MMA wins coming by way of decision.

Cage Warriors Unplugged 2 takes place on Friday, September 6 from the BT Sport Studio in London, England with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
