Report: Rodrigo Vargas Replaces Rafael Fiziev & Gilbert Burns Replaces Laureno Staropoli At UFC Fight Night Uruguay
Two more changes have been made for UFC Fight Night Uruguay according to Combate as Rodrigo Vargas replaces an injured Rafael Fiziev against Alex Da Silva and Gilbert Burns replaces Laureano Staropoli against Alexey Kunchenko.
Vargas (10-2-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Vargas has competed a total of twelve times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.
Da Silva (20-2-0) is winless thus far in UFC competition, having dropped a bout to Alexander Yakovlev via second round submission at UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg. Da Silva has picked up twenty wins as a professional MMA fighter and thirteen of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
Burns (15-3-0) enters the contest while on a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Mike Davis and Olivier Aubin-Mercier. Burns has suffered three losses as a professional MMA fighter, but none of those defeats came via submission.
Kunchenko (20-0-0) has already picked up a pair of wins in the UFC, beating the duo of Thiago Alves and Yushin Okami. Kunchenko is a former M-1 Challenge Welterweight Champion, defeating Murad Abdulaev by unanimous decision at M-1 Challenge 72 to win the gold.
UFC Fight Night Uruguay takes place on Saturday, August 10 from the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay with Valentina Shevchenko and Liz Carmouche headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
