Report: Saad Awad Faces Goiti Yamauchi At Bellator 229
A lightweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 229 according to MMA Junkie as Saad Awad is going to be in action against Goiti Yamauchi.
Awad (23-11-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Ben Henderson and Brandon Girtz. Awad hasn’t picked up a victory in over a year, with that last win coming against Ryan Couture at Bellator 201. Awad has suffered eleven losses as a professional MMA fighter and more than half of those defeats came by way of decision.
Yamauchi (23-4-0) has won four of his last five under the Bellator MMA banner, last defeating Daniel Weichel by split decision at Bellator 210. Yamauchi is competing for the first time in 2019, with his last bout at Bellator 210 taking place in November of last year. Yamauchi has suffered four defeats as a professional MMA fighter and all of those losses came by way of decision.
Bellator 229 takes place on Friday, October 4 from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California with Andrey Koreshkov and Lorenz Larkin headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
