Ken Shamrock Starting A Bare Knuckle Promotion
UFC Hall Of Fame member Ken Shamrock is entering the world of bare knuckle combat sports as the fighter is partnering with Des Woodruff to launch Valor Bare Knuckle Inc.
Shamrock, in a press release (obtained by MMA Fighting), states that there is nothing like bare knuckle fighting and it is his favorite way to compete.
“I fell in love with bare knuckle in the first no-holds barred UFC promotion in 1993. There is nothing like bare knuckle. You have to be much more accurate with your strikes, and you have to train with a specific strategy in mind. Bare knuckle has always been my favorite way to compete because it is simply fighter against fighter, no more and no less. There is something pure and uncomplicated about that.”
The first event is scheduled for Saturday, September 21 at the Bears Casino & Lodge in New Town, North Dakota. There has been no fights or fighters announced at this time, but the event is expected to air via pay-per-view and/or a streaming service.
There is no word yet on whether or not Shamrock himself plans on fighting, as the legendary fighter hasn’t competed since a loss to Royce Gracie at Bellator 149 in February of 2016.
