Report: UFC Fighter Desmond Green Jailed On 20 Charges After Deadly Car Crash
UFC fighter Desmond Green has been arrested and jailed by Broward County (Florida) authorities according to MMA Junkie after allegedly being involved in a car crash in August of 2018 that left two women dead.
A warrant was issued for the fighter’s arrest on June 19 and Green is currently being held on bonds that total up to $194,000.
According to MMA Junkie, who obtained court records, a jailed Green is being charged with two second-degree felony counts of DUI manslaughter; four third-degree felony counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury; third-degree felony possession of cocaine; five misdemeanor counts of DUI property damage; and third-degree felony driving with a suspended license.
Green has competed in the UFC three times since the deadly car crash, defeating Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night Philadelphia, defeating Charles Jourdain at UFC Fight Night Rochester and suffering a defeat to Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night Moscow.
Affidavits show that Green had been driving with a suspended license when the accident occurred, as the fighter had been involved in previous accidents in other states. An officer that arrived at the scene of the accident observed that Green looked to be intoxicated, as cocaine was found in the passenger side of Green’s vehicle and a marijuana grinder was allegedly found at the scene as well.
Toxicology reports would reveal that Green tested positive for cannabinoids, THC and his blood alcohol level was 0.14.
There has been no comment from the UFC or Green’s representatives at this time.
