Dave Bautista Struggles with LASIK in New International ‘Stuber’ Trailer
20th Century Fox has released a new international trailer for their upcoming Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista-lead buddy comedy, Stuber.
Set to The Beach Boys’ rollicking #1 hit, I Get Around, this footage showcases the action-adventure aspect of the film but does so in a way that prioritizes the characters and their charming interpersonal dynamic. Both men have proven themselves to be hilarious on-screen presences, whether it be in The Big Sick or Guardians of the Galaxy, so the potential for this to be one of the years funniest films is there.
Michael Dowse, who is best known for his work on 2002’s FUBAR and 2011’s Goon, is serving as the director with The Raid sensation Iko Uwais leading the supporting cast. With him aboard it’s safe to assume that we should be in store for some fantastically choreographed fight sequences. GLOW‘s Betty Gilpin and Jumanji‘s Karen Gillan are also along for the ride.
Stuber will need to be great to achieve any sort of box office success, especially with Men in Black: International being released on the same day (July 12, 2019) and Toy Story 4 bowing just one-week later.
Here is the official synopsis, via 20th Century Fox:
“When a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) picks up a passenger (Dave Bautista) who turns out to be a cop hot on the trail of a brutal killer, he’s thrust into a harrowing ordeal where he desperately tries to hold onto his wits, his life and his five-star rating. Directed by Michael Dowse, this action-comedy from 20th Century Fox also stars Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan.”
