Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions Reaches Deal To Have Event In Canada This Fall

Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions is looking to expand to Canada with a deal in place to have its first show north of the U.S. border this fall.

The company announced a partnership with Elite Championship Boxing to bring Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions shows on UFC Fight Pass to Canada. The first show in this partnership is tentatively scheduled for October 19 at the Stony Plain Expo Center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Jones’ company and UFC already have an existing agreement to live stream up to 72 professional boxing events through 2021 on Fight Pass. UFC has already streamed several shows for the past few months with the first one being headlined by a WBO super flyweight title eliminator between Aston Palicte and Jose Martinez.

There are still several RJJBP shows scheduled for Fight Pass in the coming months with one of them taking place in Japan. The Japan show will be headlined by the vacant WBO super flyweight title bout between Palicte and Kazuto Ioka on June 19. The card will also feature two more world title fights — Hiroto Kyoguchi vs. Tanawat Nakoon for the WBA light flyweight title and Miyo Yoshida vs. Casey Morton for the WBO Female super flyweight title — though neither UFC nor RJJBP has confirmed whether or not those two fights will be on the Fight Pass stream.

Since the initial deal with Jones’ company, UFC has invested in more boxing broadcasting, reaching deals with Lou DiBella’s DiBella Entertainment and Murphys Boxing. Both of those companies have had cards already streamed on Fight Pass within the past several weeks.
