Lio Rush Issues Challenge To Hiromu Takahashi For IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title Match

Don’t ever count out Lio Rush.

Lio Rush has issued a challenge for Hiromu Takahashi’s IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

At NJPW New Beginning in Osaka, Hiromu Takahashi was successful in 8-Man Tag Team action alongside Los Ingobernables de Japon’s BUSHI, SANADA, and Tetsuya Naito. Still, it was after the match that his night took a turn.

The arena dimmed and a video played where Lio Rush challenged Takahashi to a future IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match. In the video, Rush stated that this was a match he was looking forward to for a long time. Also, he vowed to do what his tag team partner YOH could not, and take Takahashi’s Championship from him.

Takahashi accepted the challenge, saying he was also waiting a long time for this match.

No date has been set for the match.

Rush last appeared in NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom, teaming with YOH in an unsuccessful attempt to become IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. That same night, Takahashi began his latest reign with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
