Anthony Pettis Looking To Fight Conor McGregor
A victorious Pettis would become just one of a handful of fighters to win bouts in three different UFC weight classes, which was something that was also achieved by former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor.
McGregor would even take to Twitter to congratulate Pettis on the accomplishment:
Welcome to the club and congratulations.
Now who fucking wants it? https://t.co/XrNU4VDc3Z— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) March 24, 2019
Pettis, who got wind of the remarks by McGregor, would state that he’d love to fight the former two division UFC champion later this year.
“That’s a fun fight,” he told MMA Junkie. “(He’s) another guy that I love his style, another guy that’s going to be a fun style to fight. If he wants to do it, let’s do it. I’m not afraid to fight anybody.”
The former two division UFC champion is still serving a suspension for his role in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl, but would be eligible to fight again by the time UFC 239 comes about.
It is interesting to note that Pettis and McGregor both accomplished the three wins in three weight classes goal in the same exact way, with their victories coming at featherweight, lightweight and welterweight.
