James Krause Won’t Be Forced Into Fighting
James Krause has competed thirty three times as a professional MMA fighter and is currently in the midst of a five bout winning streak under the UFC banner.
The longtime MMA veteran seems to be down to face anyone, but isn’t willing to have the UFC force him into accepting a fight.
“I fight when I want to,” Krause told MMA Junkie. “I’m not going to be forced to fight. I fight when I have the fire to fight, when I want to fight. I see a lot of guys fight when they don’t want to – or they need to, or financially they feel like they’re obligated to. Or they get talked into it by media, you know what I mean, they kind of feel forced into it. I just don’t want to be one of those guys. I don’t want to name any names, but you see the older guys that have been doing this for a long time and you see the fighter just goes out every single fight. If I don’t feel it, I don’t want to be that guy that goes out and gives a subpar performance.”
Krause isn’t just a professional MMA fighter, but is quickly becoming known as one of the best coaches in the sport as well.
It would seem like coaching has become Krause’s passion, as the fighter finds more fulfillment in being a coach than he does fighting.
“It seems to come less and less, but I still enjoy it,” Krause said. “I’m not going anywhere any time soon. I’m not retiring or anything like that right now. But I do get far more fulfillment out of coaching and I, honestly, I think I’m a way better coach than I’m a fighter. I’ve been saying that for years; I really do.”
There is no word yet on when Krause could return to action, as the fighter was last seen in action at UFC Fight Night Lincoln.
