Dominick Reyes Believes He’s A Few Fights Away From Challenging Jon Jones

Dominick Reyes was last seen in action at UFC Fight Night London, defeating Volkan Oezdemir by split decision.

A victorious Reyes believes he is just a few victories away from challenging UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones for the gold.

“I feel that I need another fight under my belt before I fight Jon,” Reyes said on The MMA Hour. “So maybe one, two more, and we’re dancing.”

Reyes is currently ranked #5 in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division and is just one of two fighters (with the other being Thiago Santos) in the top five to not have challenged for light heavyweight gold.

The fighter hasn’t just started thinking about a potential fight against Jones because it is something he has been planning for quite some time now.

“I’ve thought of it before, but that’s something you don’t really think too hard on it until you get there,” Reyes said. “When I first came into MMA, it was always train to beat Jon. Do everything right to beat Jon when you do fight him. So I think when the time comes, I’ll be ready. I know it’s coming soon, so I’m getting there.”

Jones was last seen in action at UFC 235, defeating Anthony Smith to retain the UFC Light Heavyweight Title.
