Report: UFC Signs Ivan Shtyrkov
A new threat is making his way over to the UFC Light Heavyweight Division as Ivan Shtyrkov has signed a contract to compete in the UFC.
Sherdog first reported the signing, but the amount of fights on the contract is unknown at this time, no financial numbers were revealed as well.
Shtyrkov (15-0-1) enters the promotion while riding a two fight winning streak, with those wins coming over the duo of Fabio Maldonado and Thiago Silva. Shtyrkov has picked up wins over a host of UFC veterans, including Jeff Monson, Ricco Rodriguez, Antonio Silva, Rodney Wallace and Philip De Fries, plus the aforementioned Maldonado and Silva. Shtyrkov has picked up fifteen wins as a professional MMA fighter, with eleven of those victories coming by either KO/TKO and/or submission. Shtyrkov has just one blemish on his professional MMA record, which was a draw against Geromino Dos Santos at Russian Cagefighting Championship 2 in May of 2018.
There is no word at this time as to when Shtyrkov is expected to make his UFC debut or whom that opponent is going to be when that moment happens. Jon Jones is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, last defending the gold against Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC 235.
