James Gallagher Willing To Fight In The Featherweight World Grand Prix, For A Million Quid
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker recently announced that a featherweight world grand prix will kick off later this year.
James Gallagher, who current competes at bantamweight, would fight in the featherweight grand prix for the right amount of money.
“Does a million quid make sense?” Gallagher said on Eurobash (via MMA Fighting). “If it makes money it makes sense…if it makes money it makes sense and we will see if I’m going to be making money. [If I am] then it’s going to make sense to me.”
Gallagher had previously competed at featherweight in Bellator MMA, going 2-0-0 in the promotion before dropping to bantamweight.
The fighter says that he is happy competing at bantamweight and has no plans to move up a weight class for the time being.
“I can fight in that weight class, but I’m happy where I am. I’m not in any rush to move back up and I’m not in any rush to do anything different, but if I get the right deal and it’s right for me, then I’m going to do what’s right for me,” says Gallagher.
Bellator 217 takes place on Saturday, February 23 from the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland with James Gallagher and Steven Graham headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on the Paramount Network.
