Marion Reneau Tatlks UFC Wichita, Owning A New Gym & Has No Plans Of Moving To 145lbs

Marion Reneau competes in the UFC again this March at UFC Fight Night Wichita, facing Yana Kunitskaya in a women’s bantamweight division attraction.

A lot has changed for Reneau since the last time she fought, with perhaps the biggest change being the fact that the fighter has opened up a gym.

“Something interesting did happen (since my last fight) in fact, last year in October…I went ahead and opened up my own academy. My husband Pat and me, so we’re going four months now and its going really strong with the academy. I love it because it doubles over as my workout facility, first and foremost it was our primary objective with it was to make it a workout facility for myself. Then in order to pay the lights, (I) opened up some classes. Those classes are now packed, in fact there’s a couple of them (people) where I’m like “I’m sorry, we can’t fit you guys anymore and we’re not making anymore classes.’ It’s a good problem to have and I appreciate all the support the community has given us, so I’ve been pretty busy with the academy and teaching here and there. But I’m not the only person who teaches, I have other people in the community who help me out. So it’s been amazing,” says Reneau in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Reneau was last seen in action at UFC Fight Night Boise, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Cat Zingano.

Not only is Reneau predicting an exciting fight against Kunitskaya, but the MMA veteran is happy ot be visiting Kansas for the first time.

“I really do think it’s gonna be one of those exciting fights, I think it’s unique that we get to go to Kansas. I have never been to Kansas and so I think they’re going to be very excited, we’re gonna draw off of that energy inside of the arena,” says Reneau.

UFC Fight Night Wichita takes place on Saturday, March 9 from the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas with Derrick Lewis and Junior Dos Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
