Report: Barb Honchak Released By The UFC
Former Invicta Fighting Championship Flyweight Champion Barb Honchak’s time with the UFC has apparently come to an end.
That’s because a report from The Body Lock has stated that the promotion has released Honchak from her contract. MMA Fighting, who spoke to Honchak, has stated that the fighter told them that she was indeed released by the UFC, but the TUF alum didn’t state exactly when the release happened.
Honchak went 0-2-0 in the UFC (10-4-0 overall), dropping bouts to the duo of Lauren Murphy and Roxanne Modafferi. Honchak was last seen in action at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale in July of 2018, losing to the aforementioned Modafferi.
The fighter also took part in the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 reality show, defeating Gillian Robertson and Rachael Ostovich before losing in the semi-finals to Nicco Montano, who would go on to become the first UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion.
With Honchak now being a free agent, it would leave her to sign with any promotion seeking the fighter’s services, including Bellator MMA, Invicta FC or any other organization out there. There has been no official comment from the UFC as to the status of Honchak, while Honchak has also declined to issue a statement at the moment.
