Report: Amanda Nunes Defends Bantamweight Title Against Holly Holm At UFC 237

A UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title bout may be coming to UFC 237 according to Combate as Amanda Nunes puts the gold on the line against #2 Holly Holm.

UFC President Dana White said during the UFC 235 Press Conference that Holm versus Aspen Ladd was pulled from the event and this could be why.

Nunes (17-4-0) is going to be making the fourth defense of her title, last defending it against Raquel Pennington at UFC 224. Nunes is also the UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion, defeating Cyborg at UFC 232 to claim that title. Nunes will enter the bout on the strength of an eight fight winning streak and she hasn’t suffered a defeat in over four years.

Holm (12-4-0) is a former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, having defeated Ronda Rousey to win the gold at UFC 193. Holm is also returning to the women’s bantamweight division for the first time in over a year, as she has been recently competing at featherweight. Holm has twice before challenged for the UFC Women’s Featherweight Title, losing to Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208 and to Cyborg at UFC 219.

Combate also reports that a women’s strawweight division bout between #3 (Tied) Tatiana Suarez (7-0-0) and #3 (Tied) Nina Ansaroff (10-5-0) is expected to be added to the card.

UFC 237 takes place on Saturday, May 11 from the Arena De Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil with no main event made official at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
