UFC 234’s Austin Arnett Expecting A Late Finish Against Shane Young on Feb. 9

Austin Arnett steps foot in the Octagon again at UFC 234, facing Shane Young in a featherweight division attraction.

The featherweight prospect has competed over twenty times as a professional MMA fighter, but Arnett says the last win over Humberto Bandenay at UFC Fight Night Chile was the biggest win of his career.

“Yeah, definitely…probably was. I mean I would’ve liked to have gotten a finish, third round…I got pretty close there towards the end of the round. That would’ve made it a little bit better, finishing him off…getting a TKO or a submission or something. Just getting the win, obviously that was the biggest one,” says Arnett in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

While Arnett considers the Bandenay win the biggest of his career, it was also the fighter’s first win since joining the UFC roster in January of 2018.

Arnett has fought overseas for the majority of his UFC bouts and that experience has made weight cutting a breeze.

“Its gonna be basically the same, I hired Lockhart and Leith again. So they’re gonna be over there handling that final week and that’s just really nice having someone preparing your meals for you. Bringing it right to the room, not having to go out….find these restaurants, especially in different countries. It’s a little bit harder…always, so I’m gonna hire them for that last week. Everything else is the same, I know how my body reacts with everything….with the flight now and I’ll make weight no problem,” says Arnett.

UFC 234 takes place on Saturday, February 9 from the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia with Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast.
